GRACE REFORMED BAPTIST CHURCH Our name corresponds with who and what we are, as well as stating what we stand for and why we exist. GRACE The Sovereign God (Dan. 4:34-35; 5:28), Creator and Sustainer of all things seen and unseen (Heb. 1:1-4;11:3), has elected from eternity to redeem, effectually call, sanctify and glorify His chosen people (Eph. 1:3-14; II Th. 2:13-14; I Pet. 1:2-5). Salvation is totally the work of our Sovereign Lord (Eph. 2:8), and we reject false teaching which teaches that salvation is the result of human works, or the human will (Jn. 1:12-13; Rom. 9:14-18), cooperating with God to earn salvation (Eph. 2:9-10). Our faith rests firmly on God who saves us by His Sovereign Grace (Gal. 1:3-5). Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now I’m found, was blind, but now I see! Issac Watts REFORMED BAPTIST We identify with the Biblical faith of the historic Church of our Lord Jesus Christ. In the tradition of our Bible-focused, Baptist forebears, we embrace Reformed Theology which gets its name from the sixteenth century Protestant Reformation. Reformed Baptists hold to the doctrines characteristic of all true Christians, including the Trinity (I Pet. 1:2), the deity of Jesus Christ (Heb. 1-8), the necessity of Jesus’ atonement for sin (Rom. 3:25-26; 4:3-8; Heb. 9:11-15), the inspiration of the Bible (II Tim. 3:16), the call to Biblical morality (I Pet. 2:11-12), justification by faith (Gal. 2:16), the need for the new birth (I Pet. 1-23), the return of Jesus Christ and the resurrection of the dead (I Th. 4:13-18). Reformed teaching also stresses the Sovereignty of God (Dan. 4:34-35; 5:28,) and emphasizes the Doctrines of Grace, best known by the acronym TULIP. TULIP T otal Depravity (Rom. 5:12; II Tim. 2:25; Mk. 4:11; I Cor. 2:14; Ps. 51:5; Gen. 6:5; Jer. 13:23; Eph. 2:1).Unconditional Election (Rom. 8:28-29; 9:11; I Cor. 1:26-29; II Tim. 1:8-9 ; Eph. 1:4; Acts 13:48; Jn. 5:21, 6:29, 37, 44, 65) Limited Atonement (Jn. 5:21, 6:37, 10:14, 15, 26, 27, 29, 17:9; Eph. 1:4, 5:25; Ro. 9:11; II Th. 2:13. Irresistible Grace (Jn. 6:37, 44, 45; Gal. 1:15; I Pet. 2:9, 5:10) Perseverance of the Saints (Ph. 1:6; Jn. 6:39, 10:28; I Pet. 1:4-5; II Tim. 1:12, 4:18; Eph. 1:11; Jude 1, 24; Rom. 8:1, 27-37). Reformed Baptists affirm the five "Solas" of the Reformation: Sola Gratia = God’s grace alone saves us from our sins. Sola Fide = Faith alone is the proper response to the grace of God. Sola Scriptura = Scripture alone is our singular source from which we learn what to believe and how to behave. Solus Christus = Christ alone is the One from whom all blessings flow and is the Only Head of His body, the Church. Soli Dea Gloria = God alone deserves all glory and to the praise of His glory we exist. We also appreciate the 1689 Second London Baptist Confession of Faith and refer to it as a Biblical doctrinal standard. CHURCH The following traits are commonly accepted as the Biblical marks of a genuine Christian church. Grace Reformed Baptist Church possesses all these qualities: (1) Teaching the Gospel as revealed in the Scriptures, Eph. 1:3-13. (2) Observing the ordinances of believers, Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, Mt. 26:26-30; 28:18-20. (3) Disciplining the membership, Mt. 16:19; 18:18. (4) Recognizing God-ordained ministers as leaders, Acts 14: 23; 20:28. (5) Meeting for corporate worship, Heb. 10:25. (6) Practicing love in God’s family, Act 2:44-45. (7) Witnessing to the world, I Pet. 2:12; 3:15. (8) Using spiritual gifts to edify the Church and glorify God, Rom. 12:3-8; I Cor. 12:1-6; Eph. 4:11-16. Grace Reformed Baptist Church is also affiliated with the Fellowship of Independent Reformed Evangelicals (F.I.R.E.) which is a like-minded group of churches. Unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:21 Elders: Lynn Chapuis, Phil Sharpless, Jim Fendlason Call us at 228-868-1060
